Natural stone and natural stone products are best protected from adverse weather and human influences with impregnation agents. This reduces the absorption capacity of stone surfaces in the long term and makes them water-repellent, i.e. hydrophobic, so that water and harmful substances dissolved in water cannot reach the pores of the stone.
